This is from the Dolce and Gabbana collection 2014 what I like about this collection is the whole look which is I think is really rich , opulent and luxurious. Then the actual prints look really historical , which is emphasised with the crown accessories and over the top cross earrings. The whole look is very rich and warm in colour and screams money.

These are my own pictures that I sneakily took at the metro centre home sense. I was looking at the different trends within the shop and noticed there was animal print trends within interiors and domestic items, there was also trend  for block coloured sofas and chairs , that were in different materials mostly velvet.

This is my A1 sheet drawing sheet, this picture shows where I have started the sheet , I think I have made a good start , as I have tried to fill the sheet with lots of drawings but think I could add more drawings to the sheet , so that I have more choice when starting print or embroidery. I have tried to use different media such as oil pastel, water colour and pencil as well as using different techniques such as appliqué.

For these two drawings I have tried to use different media such as coloured pencils and watercolour, as I did not want to just stick to the same media. I think my flower drawing is quite naïve, whereas myhare drawing /painting is more detailed so I think this is good to show contrast in my work.

This is a drawing for my new project drawing for surface design , I have bought some lilies and roses , then I have drawn them. I feel I have done well as I have tried to add as much detail I can and I feel I have improved with my drawing also with my painting I think I have improved compared to when I first started the course.

This is my work bay showing my research and drawings for my new project with the concept enthral, I have tried to look at different sections of the industry for my research such as fashion and interiors, looking at catwalk collections,  looking at prints as well as embroidery.

reason I like this piece so much is because it
so girlie and light , I also think the layout
work quite well too.

This is my third sample where I have
cratered a shabby chic , vintage style print
with the faded out flowers which is what I like
about this sample.

This is my second sample I think  I planned this out
too much , I  have used miner foam , foil , pigment ,
procion  techniques to create this piece. what
I like about this piece is the layout as everything
is spaced out and it just works.

This is my first print that I have done,
I have used heat transfer polyester
fabric and have used different techniques,
such as heat transfer , procion , pigment
and foiling. what I like about it is the faded
out prints that have a vintage effect , but I
don't like the bright coloured prints or
where I have marks on the print
after steaming and washing.

This is my second sample and I think this sample is  more
 effective because I have used wool fabric instead of cotton
which I personally think looks more neater as it shows
creases less  but my first sample even after ironing it still
showed some creases. Also I have used more appliqué
on this sample than my first and have used a lot of
hand embroidery techniques to finish this and my
first sample.

What I like about my first embroidery sample is the small 

pink petals , where I have used the appliqué sample and 

dyed my own fabric , I think it looks most effective on this sample.

I think I,  could have used more appliqué on this sample to 

make it look more effective, but overall I am pleased with 

the result.

This is work that I like because I find her use of sewing and embroidery
delightful ,I also like her choice of themes that she chooses when she works.






Report Research: Claire Coles

The reason I have chosen to research the designer Claire
Coles is I find her work very inspiring. she uses old wallpaper
to print and embroider over. I think this a really good way of reusing
old fabric and wallpaper , her work is very unique and is amazing to
look at which I like.

I have chosen to research the designer Clarissa Hulse for my report
because her work is very inspiring, she uses bright , bold colours
to express her work , which is usually prints of  nature. I
 like her work because she is not afraid to just go for it and
this is probably the reason she has had so much success.
